Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that Rasheed Wallace is "serious" about a comeback to the NBA.

Wallace, who retired after 15 seasons in 2010, has been working out and probing some close league friends about possible destinations to sign for the rest of the season, sources said.

... one league source who has talked with Wallace recently describes him as "serious" about a return to the NBA this season. Nevertheless, no teams contacted by Yahoo! Sports reported that they had any contact with Wallace, or his representative.

Sheed hasn't played since game seven of the 2010 NBA Finals, where he left everything on the floor for the Celtics – who were without starting center Kendrick Perkins – in a loss to the Los Angles Lakers. Conditioning has long been a concern of Rasheed Wallace, so it's understandable for potential suitors to be hesitant of the 37 year old's comeback attempt.

However; if Sheed is indeed "serious" about getting back into playing shape, the Sixers should take a serious look at the veteran big man. It's a low-risk, high-reward move. One, we all know the Sixers could use another big man (See: Mike's post). Two, Sheed has been a fan favorite everywhere he's played and he's a guy the city could get genuinely excited about. Three, his playing time wouldn't come at the expense of any significant prospect's development, and he wouldn't be asked to do much more than play 15-20 minutes off the bench.

The question then becomes, why would Rasheed chose Philadelphia over other, more serious contenders? The opportunity to play significant minutes, the fact that he's from Philadelphia, and Coach Collins seems like a guy veterans love to play for.

All things considered, I think the chances Sheed lands in Philadelphia are slim to none. The team probably isn't a serious enough contender for Sheed to consider, and it seems like a very un-Sixers like move.
