Deron Williams took over in the 4th quarter and overtime to beat the lackadaisical 76ers in overtime. Post your immediate disgust with this outcome if you want. Using pictures is always a fun way to do so.
In the sense that game by game results/not losing a game in the standings mean absolutely nothing…but in the big scheme of things a loss to Cleveland just kind of hammers home the point that they may in fact be terrible. Until Baron Davis comes back, of course.
Knicks/D’Antoni/Melo are total frauds, the NYK hate makes me feel good.
Also the “Melo trade” is now known as the “Gallo trade” according to fans on WFAN in New York. Love this!
Assuming a blowout was completely rationale considering that every game against a bad team like the Nets was a blowout this year. Obviously that wasn’t what happened, and Deron Williams was a total beast. Enjoy watching him now though, because when the Nets aren’t able to trade for Howard, he will be wearing a Maverick’s uniform next year.
If Hawes misses significant playing time, do not re-sign him, even for backup slow white athletic Center money. The back was an issue two years in a row now.
For the most part I agree but still – tonight’s game was completely winnable even without them. No excuse for not boxing people out, jacking up shots and not taking it to the rim, poor substitutions etc. We need to win these games to put as much distance as possible between us and other teams now that we’re at home and in easier part of schedule
even if they had hawes and vuce tonight still would’ve been a lackluster performance. The sixers needed to lose this. It almost seemed as though they underestimated their opponent. They’ll keep this loss in their back pocket the next time they play a crap team…so, Friday.
they still couldve won the game. They missed tons and tons of open shots and their shot selection and ball management was lack luster! They also seemed to down right undermined their opponent! Rebounding URGH! That said, they had hustle and energy and seemed to lock up the defensive side the 2nd half. But to be quite frank, if the Nets didnt have D.Williams, well…you get the point! I know B-ball is a team sport, but this is what happens when you have a star. A big time player. Big time players make big time plays in big time situations. Period. You always have a chance. You always have that confidence knowing your Big time player will carry you in the crunch times. I get this “team” aspect, but to compete in this league and truly contend…you need that Star/Big time player. So while we can talk about fun this “Team” is to watch and how cool it is to see all the "role players’ play their part..in reality, we need to add a big time piece or two. I hope Doug and the gang realize this soon!
If the Heat didn’t have D.Wade they’d be….or wait I forgot, they ALSO have Lebron James still to carry the team. If the Mavs didnt have Kidd they’d….oh wait, forgot, they ALSO have Dirk N! Point is the more big time talent you have, the greater your chances of staying in the game.
I do feel that we have a really good core and an awesome coach
Our bench is one of the top in the league, we have a sound defense, and we play with loads of energy all around. We just need a big time player or two, and i believe we could really give those upper echelon teams a run for their money on a consistent basis!
No more Yoga instead of practice. Practice your foul shots, Sixers.
72.8%, rank 22. It’s not like we have an elite PF or C that gets fouled constantly.
At least the Knicks lost.

It’s still insanely early to scoreboard watch.

Yeah just what the team needs another undisciplined shooter.

I really dislike Knicks “fans”. So it’s never too early for me.

WOOOOO! GREAT VICTORY NETS!!!!!
Wait a second… what happend to blowout city? Oh right.
Philly fans have gotten too cocky too quickly, but whatever.

You joined Liberty Ballers just so you could troll? Congrats on your Nets getting that elusive 6th win. They’re still in last place
The Mad Hopper - January 26, 2012
HAHAHAHA
I can’t wait till we get Dwight and ALL THE HATERS will EAT THEIR OWN WORDS. Just wait haters..
The Chair of Knowledge - January 26, 2012
YEAH H8RS
Michael Levin - January 26, 2012
I've always said
If we’re gonna lose, let’s lose by having Jodie Meeks involved in both the most important offensive and defensive plays, so I have no complaints.
Drew1750 - January 25, 2012
that was remarkable wasn’t it
J.Michael Woodson - January 25, 2012
Phew, I’m not angry anymore. We all know the weaknesses of the team and most of them, if not all, showed tonight.
soman319 - January 25, 2012
Losses like this ruin my day

Not having Hawes and Vuce is definitely a thing that shouldn’t be ignored.

Jrue Holiday playing like BAD BOSS
Let the Jruth be told.
Overdribbling, stupid turnovers, bad decisions, long 2s, questionable defense on the pick n roll.
Where is the Jrue Holiday from the Miami playoff series that looked so promising?
PhillyWarrior - January 25, 2012
This
He has been struggling so far this season and its been a huge disappointment.
James_C - January 25, 2012
ditto

Sixers still havent won a close one.

Dont worry, Doug Collins won’t sub out Meeks for an offense/defense substitution after a dead ball inbound play.
dp - January 25, 2012 via mobile
Not to blame the refs...
But there should’ve been a 5 second call against the Nets with 1:18 left when Philly led 90-88. Farmar inbounded it after about 5.7 seconds.
Though against a team like the Nets, it should never have been that close to begin with.
Shady is an Eagle! - January 25, 2012
I knew it was over when they hit the buzzer beater to end the 3rd
pb111 - January 25, 2012
Plenty of bad decisions throughout the game, long 2s, stupid turnovers, no defensive rebounds etc. we deserved to loose, hope we can learn from it.

"if the Nets didnt have Deron Williams..."
You can make that point about any team! And the Nets are also missing 3 starters…

Also, the Sixers were missing both of their current top big men...
notice that I did not list that as an excuse! So im confused on why you would even mention injured players.

Haha nevermind. I just saw your alias..
I should’ve known. Not even worth the trouble

2. Not be able to write coherent sentences.

I guess every good team has to lose to a bad team at least once per season. Better not see any more of this crap, though.
jefu - January 25, 2012
Other bad losses this season
Not happy with the loss, but good teams have inexplicable losses all the time.
Wiz over Thunder (Uh?)
Bucks over Heat (in Miami)
Celts over Magic (Orlando only scored 56 for the game, 20 in the 2nd half)

Here is a fun stat for the 2011-12 year thus far.
Joel Anthony: 83.3% FT
Andre Iguodala: 64.2% FT

What are anthony’s attempts per game? That matters more.
