Whole Lotta Bleh: Ryan Anderson, Dwight Howard, Magic Charge Past Sixers Post-Game Dry Heave

That may have been a worse loss than the Nets game, simply for how awful they looked from start to finish against the Orlando Magic. Led Zeppelin said it best, by way of CoburnsCuddleBuddy, this game was a Whole Lotta Bleh.

But the Magic are a terrific team when Dwight Howard gives a hoot and their shooters are making shots. And tonight, holy mother of Boss did they hit their shots. 53% from the field and 15 of 25 three-pointers made. Someone should be shot and killed for how many open looks they had. They kept falling. It wasn't fun. I hated myself. You hated yourself. Ryan Anderson shoved his sweaty jock into our mouths. Good times.

The Sixers fall to 20-10 and are staring into the beady eyes of the defending champions for Friday's game. Unfortunately, the Sixers haven't played a legitimately good game since they beat the Lakers.

My haiku was pretty accurate...
three balls were flying
terrible Sixers defense
the Magic conquered
it was indeed

Just gotta hope that Dirk still isn’t in shape for Friday

Haiku: Sixers Undone

3’s killed every run.
Damn you Ryan Anderson!
Covered by no one….

welp..time to trade Iguodala for Monta Ellis
Anyone watching the Sixers closely this season could see a game like this coming

Hopefully they learn from this blowout and adjust. They need to abandon the long 2 strategy and start penetrating the paint.

We already saw it with the Heat.

With the Heat it was close till the 4th Q. This game was never really close.

down by 5 in the 3rd? I say that’s a pretty heated game till then.

nothing worse than getting your ass blasted.

the Sixers haven’t played a legitimately good game since they beat the Lakers.

This has been worrying me.

And it kind of reminds of something that happened with the Eagles two seasons ago. The Eagles had that awesome, miracle comeback against the Giants (Miracle at the Meadowlands 2), and you thought it would something to build off of, success wise. As Eagles fans know, the rest of their games after that “miracle” were really crappy. I don’t know if there’s anything to really be drawn out of this comparison, I guess I’m just wondering if anyone else sees that comparison.

They haven’t scored 100 in 3 weeks!!!! Jeez this is BUGGIN ME OUT MAN!!!!

anyone else think..

that it’s time to trade some of the young guys out for a more established, non-overrated player. They have 10 guys that have legit trade value at the moment, 11 if you count in Nocioni’s contract

I would shut down not only the blog, but the entire internet.

I know I'm being a negative nancy

but think about it…we have enough pieces to pull in one of the young big guys from Utah, the guards from Sacremento…….or………………..Dwight

??? You're not being negative, you're being silly.

Why on earth would we want any of the guards in Sacremento? I’d love to pull in a big from Utah, but don’t they like those players also? And even if the magic wanted what we could give them (which they don’t), if we gut our team, we’d only be renting dwight until he goes free agent this summer.

No love for Tyreke?

I still like Tyreke Evans even though his assist to turnover ratio is terrible, I just think that DC could reform him and make him into the player he was projected to be coming out of college.

No love for Tyreke.

Sorry man. The guy’s got all the tools, but he’s a an anti-chemistry player. He kills team basketball. Why waste time ‘reforming’ someone when we’ve got talented guards/SFs? And they’re not trading him anyway.

Anybody looks bad playing out of position

I’m not saying that he’s perfect…but Sacramento forcing him to play PG is stupid. His strength is attacking the rim and scoring, I don’t know why coaches have a hard on for making him the PG. I know there weren’t a lot of PG options available this year, but experimenting with that was dumb when it was clear that he couldn’t play the position in college. I’d say that with his strength of attacking the rim and getting to the line, he’d help us out…and DC wouldn’t allow him to NOT play to his strengths.

I also think this ‘anti-chemistry’ rap on him is overblowing it a little.

Why do so many fans think that DC has some sort of a magic touch that can suddenly fix any problem that a player has?

Dude, he turned Evan Turner from a BUST! to a solid contributor and made Iguodala an All-Star. He hides the magic potion bottle at the team practice facility.

Rec’d for the fact that I would try to do the same

le sigh….

^^ to YBT’s comment…

what?

it was a serious question. I love the way the 76ers are dealing with that they have. But let’s be real…we need to make a few move moves before we can seriously contend. Don’t act like the condensed schedule didn’t benefit the team’s record.

I’m not so sure. The only team that worries me in the East is Miami. And I don’t think we can add anyone that would close the gap. But I’m waiting to see us play them when we have all our players to see how far away we are. Young players get better and we’re seeing that with our group. This is all happening because they finally have a decent coach.

Who do you think would help the team so much that we have to make a move?

Well…right now, we can’t beat Miami. They’ve toyed with us last year, and this year. They just are a bad matchup for us. I’m not ruling out ‘blowing up the team,’ meaning that…I’d take a chance on guys like Derrick Favors or Jason Thompson, I’m looking at Sacremento and Utah in particular. They’re stacked with big men, they can’t resign them all…and we have guys with value. Of course, DC would object to such moves…but it’s something to think about, especially since Doug doesn’t have faith in ET.

Jason Thompson is horrendous. You want him simply because he’s been in the league for longer. Derrick Favors is as equally unproven as the Sixers bigs, if not moreso.

Jason grabs around 10 boards if you look at his per-36 stats. Yes, I admit…I want him for his experience. I also don’t have faith in Spencer Hawes maintaining his health, and for Lavoy to keep playing the way he is. As for Favors, yes…he’s still very raw, but Doug would at least like him and be eager to give him his minutes to grow, unlike ET.

9.3 is the new 10.

JT’s RB% numbers are awful. Being a veteran does not make him good.

I would absolutely love Favors, I was disagreeing with you saying he’s more proven, because he’s the opposite.

but still

we would still need a starter at PF once Elton Brand is gone after next year, he’s at least a decent play as a starter

No. He’s not. He’s terrible. There are infinitely better options available for a lot less money. Just because he’s there does not mean we have to sign him. This is why teams are bad.

Favors would be awesome, problem is Utah kinda likes him too.

There’s definitely a reason that he was included in the Deron trade.

yeah, but they have 2 good big men starting for the near future already and their SG/SF position isnt getting any better. They might want to unload at least one of them. Just sayin.

Gordon Hayward? Alec Burks?

I’m not a Gordon Hayward fan. He’s only shooting 42% overall from the field and grabs only 3 rebounds per 30 minutes. Alec Burks is still pretty raw and hasn’t shown much.

Miss you Wight

Since Jan. 1, Sixers are 10-0 when Spencer Hayes plays and 8-8 when he doesn’t.

I’m going to sleep and forgetting about this game instead of drawing hasty conclusions or kicking any chairs that may result in a broken toe. Let’s just get to the All-Star break and see what’s what. 1 game, however bad, not a season makes.

Yeah, there has been a decline in their play of late. They were more precise and disciplined earlier. Other teams are catching up in terms of their play.

Do keep in mind that we’re doing all of this without Hawes, who makes a big difference for the team.

I’m thinking that fatigue is something of a factor too, even though the Sixers play a lot of guys so no one is overworked this season is still a grind. Our bigs will do a lot better once we add Hawes back into the mix. Vucevic is really getting some good pt. which will pay off later on.
