Evan Turner Not Picked Last for Rising Stars Challenge

With Evan Turner firmly in the talent pool for the formerly-named Rookies/Sophomores game that will now be known as the Rising Stars Challenge, it came down to where exactly he will be picked. His improvement from last season got him on the team, but apparently not enough to merit a higher pick. Save for the offensively absent Tristan Thompson, everyone else on the team was picked before Evan Turner. Burn.

Charles Barkley nabbed Evan with his very last pick, on a team where ET will be playing with John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins. If only Derrick Favors had made the cut! He'll also suit up with Tanner's dream boyfriend Paul George and fellow #2 pick disappointment, Derrick Williams. I'm so glad NBA careers are decided after one season!

It's clear that, nationally, Evan's game isn't considered better than that of less-abled players like Gordon Hayward, Kawhi Leonard, Norris Cole, among others. But most of all, new and completely unsurprising addition, Jeremy Lin. He's not that good people. I was really rooting for the kid coming out of Harvard and with Golden State, but man, everyone else is making it extremely easy to root for him to fail hard and fast.

At least he didn't go last. Hopefully we can rub this in everyone's faces once he becomes the player he's going to be.

Fact: It technically wasn't even a pick.

The last 4 players were chosen at random out of a box. He was “assigned” to Chuck’s team.

I’ve been “assigned” to many teams throughout my life.

I love the image caption.

Surprised that John Wall lasted so long, this game fits him perfectly

Really excited to see turner in this game. Wouldn’t be surprised if he does well cuz he wont have to worry about being pulled after making one mistake.

Well, you win the Name prize.

Thanks for leaving it for me to say...

…BUST!!!!!!!! :D

Hope ET dominates! Him Wall and Cousins should be pretty fun to watch. Also a fan of Paul George.

If you’re going to put in a late add for Lin and Cole, then I don’t understand why you can’t add Ivan Johnson. He is way more deserving of being in the game than Cole, Morris, Thompson, and Williams.

Going to be a fun weekend with Turner and Iguodala playing and Paul George dunking!

I remember being picked last (2nd to last and/or being assigned) on quite a few teams back in the day because I’m a gangly white kid without much of an outside shot and no handles whatsoever. More often than not, that amped me up and I’d end up out rebounding the entire opposing team and blocking 10 shots, and I could easily see Turner doing something similar.

always gotta bring race into it

ever been the only white kid in a pickup game?

theres only one logical solution to this...

drop 40.

iguodala won mvp of the older brother of the older brother of this game if i’m not mistaken. i think way back then it was still east rookies v.s. west rookies. but by any measure, the sure shot way to kill all talk… showboat in the game with all the behind the back dribbles and spin moves you did on the underclassmen at ohio state in practice and drop 40. because 39 simply wont do it.

He’s going to get maybe 5-10 minutes. I’m certain Lin will get a ton more minutes that ET.

Lin is on team Shaq. ET is on Team Chuck.

I know, I was just talking about opportunity. ET is a low profile guy right now and Lin is a “superstar.”

Nevermind then.

I look forward to watching Shaq’s team have 3 point guards on the floor at a time. When Landry Fields is on the bench, I can’t imagine having 3 of the 4 big men on the court (Griffin, Monroe, Morris and Thompson). I think Turner will have about 4 inches on whoever is matched up with him.

I think that until Evan can take over some games and show that he can carry the team he won’t get any respect from the media and casual fans. The same goes for Jrue, he’s a good player but until he can finish a couple games and show he can score 30 pts on any night he will always be labeled as just a good player. I hate the fact that almost all superstars are labeled that way just because they can score at will, even if it hurts their team to do it.

I'm excited

Who else is going?

so excited to watch Paul George dunk, Fresno represent!
