Here is a portion of the column:
So, shouldn't the Sixers aggressively try to acquire Ellis or Kaman before the March 15 trade deadline? The answer is probably not.
First of all, the price would likely be too steep.
Acquiring Ellis would probably cost Andre Iguodala. Despite his difficulties at the free-throw line, the Sixers' all-star forward is more valuable to the Sixers than Ellis would be. Ellis is small (6-foot-3) and lean. Already a physically small team, the Sixers would become smaller.

FWIW
I would totally trade LouWill, Spawes, a 1st and a 2nd for Ellis and Biedrins. Maybe Noce as a throw-in expiring too? Though I don’t know how likely that trade would be without a tinfoil hat on.

Ew.

Haven’t we proven the Lou puts up better stats than Ellis? And Hawes is cheaper and younger than Biedrins. AND you want to throw in a first and second rounder? Jeez.

But Ellis scores more than 20 ppg!! Superstar!!!!!
dweebowitz - February 19, 2012
Did you see that he put up 40+ the other day and his team still lost! Total superstar!! He just needs more help!!!
jefu - February 19, 2012
It’s everyone else’s fault!! Superstar!!!!

It is absurd to even speculate about trading Lou Williams for Monta Ellis. If you want a 20 ppg score, then increase Lou’s minutes by 7 a game and you’ll have a 20 pt scorer who outperforms Ellis and plays at least mediocre defense. There is no way Monta Ellis a one way, me first player ever plays for a Doug Collins team – thank goodness.
If there were a way to get Kaman without giving anything up I’d be all for it … but it makes no sense to trade good players for a rental that’s not enough of an impact player to get the team to the Finals this year anyway.

We don’t need another small forward or another guard. We need someone who can shoot inside, block shots and rebound. That said, we want someone who will also blend in with the young, athletic talent we have.
HBS1 - February 19, 2012
so basically
you want Dwight Howard or JaVale McGee
YBT - February 19, 2012
Serge Ibaka.

He won’t be a free agent until next year :(

Do they still have to pay Harden?
J.P.Melle - February 20, 2012
No, but if it came down to paying Ibaka or Harden, OKC will definitely choose Harden.
tst29 - February 20, 2012
Not JaVale McGee. You see him get back on defense after his team rebounded the ball?
J.P.Melle - February 20, 2012
Ha! I agree the guy’s a bonehead, but in a more professional environment, will he finally wake up, get a clue and learn how to play basketball?
YBT - February 21, 2012
I’d take him over Spence and Vuce
tst29 - February 21, 2012
I'd trade him straight up for Spence
Vooch is another story.
