Tony Parker and the big men of the San Antonio Spurs brought their pick-and-roll dominance to Philadelphia tonight to collect a win against the Sixers.
What's the biggest reason for this loss, guys? Discuss.
Poor defense (death by pick n roll). Poor showing by the rookies. Bad calls at the worst times. Need to get to the FT line more (what else is new?). Need to make FTs when at line.
watching the post-game show…
We got owned by Andre Miller, Deron Williams, and now Tony Parker.
I’ve always felt that you’ve got to adjust your game a bit if there are blatant non-calls when driving to the basket. There was one play where I though Andre tried to do this mid drive and it resulted in a rushed and off-balance shot from EB.
it is most def not 100% you are right and we are not very good at getting to the line but consistency is what I look for in refereeing and although we didn’t deserve 26 FTs. I can tell you we deserved more than 11.
Agree. I would like him to specifically address plays involving BOSS and Jruth shooting a long two with 16 seconds or more on the shot clock. He literally has a videographic memory. Tonight, he didn’t want to answer the question but I’d like to see it answered during tomorrow’s shootaround.
If he wasnt such an arrogant, disrespectful little punk then TP wouldn’t have dropped 42 on the Thunder and would have never remembered that he has the ability to do these things.
Yeah, the fact that we expect to win games night after night is refreshing. Plus, and I might be alone here, the Spurs haven’t won in Philly in 5 games. I guess they were due. Muthereffers.
The Spurs are a real good team, better than I thought and better than the Sixers. Their defense was more effective than ours, and their offense was better as well. It’s rare that all of our players are having off nights, too many were too bad tonight, that no matter what Doug did, nothing worked well enough.
The Sixers got outworked tonight, that’s very unusual.
Sacre Bleu!

Biggest Reasons
1. Tony Parker
2. Roookie Bigs couldnt hit a shot if their life depended on it
salviati - February 8, 2012
3. Violet Palmer hates Philadelphia. And freedom.

How is it possible Brand leaves so many open 10 foot jumpers so short? We need a big upgrade at PF or C.
Dpez71 - February 8, 2012
To be fair, he does have that thumb injury…
PhiladelphiaEagles - February 8, 2012
I gave Brand a pass of sort too.
soman319 - February 8, 2012
It definitely wasn’t the refs, that’s a certainty. A not too great shooting game and a failure to adjust in-game.
TwistyWristy - February 8, 2012
Poor shooting… even when we got good shots.

At least 2 of those make sense.
PhiladelphiaEagles - February 8, 2012
There’s a problem with 1 of those

Yeah, well, Tony Parker is still divorced and French.
Who else is going to the game on Friday? I’ll be there
The Mad Hopper - February 8, 2012
I’ll be there (on press row)
Derek Bodner - February 8, 2012
Violet Palmer
No, she isn’t the reason we lost. I’ve disliked her in every game I’ve seen her officiate since she started in the league.
PhillyWarrior - February 8, 2012
She’s not the reason we lost, but I’d rather have her never officiate a Sixers game ever again.
PhiladelphiaEagles - February 8, 2012
yea
not going to blame her but I’ve seen few people that are quite as bad at their jobs as she is.

Losing to the Spurs is always an immensely frustrating experience.
Michael Levin - February 8, 2012
This game was frustrating.
doubleh - February 8, 2012
they showed no signs holding a lead.
secondroundpick - February 8, 2012
Couldn’t buy a bucket even with open shots.
doubleh - February 8, 2012
Doug Collins respectfully declined to answer questions about why they didn't get to the FT line more.
soman319 - February 8, 2012
Great, thanks Doug.
Michael Levin - February 8, 2012
He’s pissed off at the lack of calls and didn’t feel like picking up a $5,000 fine. Eskin tried to bait him into blaming the refs, he didn’t bite.
PhillyWarrior - February 8, 2012
Good for him. There are more things wrong then how the ref called the game.
soman319 - February 8, 2012
The lack of FTs is not 100% on the refs. It’s settling for jumpers.
Michael Levin - February 8, 2012

I tweeted to Adam Aron to start complaining about the refs. I suggest you all do the same
The Mad Hopper - February 8, 2012
He would probably get a fine.
Ben16 - February 8, 2012
I know
The Mad Hopper - February 8, 2012
It's to bad traveling is legal now, otherwise we may have been able to win the game
pb111 - February 8, 2012
oh wait it's not, WTF!
pb111 - February 8, 2012
playing defense
is also a penalty too.
jdol1568 - February 8, 2012
Eh,
highwaterhello - February 8, 2012
Miami also lost tonight to Orlando. No big deal.
highwaterhello - February 8, 2012
Lou Williams 20 shots?
I don’t I like seeing that in the box score. And also how come he wasn’t playing Meeks? When your down don’t you want 3-pt shooters out there?

I blame Russel Westbrook
If he wasnt such an arrogant, disrespectful little punk then TP wouldn’t have dropped 42 on the Thunder and would have never remembered that he has the ability to do these things.
Brenton Lenaghan - February 8, 2012
Thinking outside of the box. I like it.
PhiladelphiaEagles - February 8, 2012
For what it's worth
It’s still awesome expecting to win a lot of games. Haven’t felt like this in a looooong time

Honestly, I think we may have just played the best team in the West.
