On tonight's broadcast of Inside the NBA on TNT, the reserves for the upcoming NBA All-Star game will be announced. It's no secret that the Sixers haven't had a player named to one of these teams since some guy named Allen Iverson represented them.
This year is looking like it will turn out different for you beloved Sixer squad. They currently sit atop the Atlantic Divison over both the Boston Celtics and Jeremy Lin led New York Knicks and are percentage points behind Indiana for the third slot in the Eastern Conference. Every NBA fan knows that a winning team usually means all-star. While the Sixers might not have a statistical stud or someone that scores 20 points per game, they have the league's best perimeter defender and one of the best all-around players in Andre Iguodala. There have been years in the past where Iguodala probably deserved to make it but didn't because of the team's record. That excuse won't be made this year and the national media has been putting him on their theoretical rosters.
So folks, we ask you, from what you've seen of number 9 this year and considering the team's success, will tonight be the night that Mr. Iguodala is named to his first all-star team?

Should he? Yes. Will He? I doubt it.

This.

Disagree. Voters do consider defensive players, but generally when they’re on winning teams. Plus, people are watching the Sixers more this year and seeing everything else he does well. Have faith!

I see your point but many uneducated fans do not know of Iguodala’s defensive prowess.

Fans don’t vote for the All-Star bench, coaches do, and they tend to notice non-elite-scorers more when they are on winning teams. Could they make a mistake again this year, sure. I’m just saying it’s more likely because we’re winning.

A lot of stars will likely skip the game this year. That should create a spot for one or more sixers.

Here's a link to my blog on the topic

“We’ll see,” he said. “I didn’t put too much into it Guys are going to get snubbed. If it happens, it happens.”
Asked him after Wednesday night’s game.

If not, time to riot

It would be cool if he did, but I hope he doesn’t. Give the man a few days off.

He deserves the respect. And it might help him/us finally get some foul calls.

Not if violet palmer is reffing our game

Kenny smith said maybe Lou or they might get two people in

Hope he gets the all-star nod. Have a feeling he’s going to get snubbed though.

I think he deserves it, but I think his lack of PPG is going to be the difference-maker.
dweebowitz - February 9, 2012
I think both Andre and Lou deserve to go. If one goes I’ll be happy, it’s been a long time since a Sixer was an ALL-STAR while they were with the team.

It’s going to be hilarious if the Boss gets in and he is the only all-star representing the Sixers. I hope he goes into crazy boss-mode and starts making tons of threes and difficult shots.

Who Makes the All-Boss team?
tk76 - February 9, 2012
I am fairly sure Mr. Levin’s head would spontaneously explode if Boss got in and Iggy did not. That would be messy, I don’t want to see that.
PhillyWarrior - February 9, 2012
Jodie Meeks for 3pt contest?

Is it wrong to hope that Lou doesn’t go, for fear that he’ll get even Bossier with an All-Star ego?
J.P.Melle - February 9, 2012
The is is no- he can get no more Boss.
But he can opt out of his contract this summer and demand more money as an All-Star. It would also drive up his trade value if someone wanted to make a Boss for big trade. Lou can single-handedly give a team a good bench.
tk76 - February 9, 2012
Good point about his value. Imo, Lou is also currently in the top 3 running for 6th man of the year. If he was to win it, I’m pretty sure that would price him out of the range the Sixers could afford.
PhillyWarrior - February 9, 2012
Guys, Marc Spears doesn’t think Iguodala will make the cut for all-star team, but somehow Luol Deng will even though he’s injured. The guy is a genius.

He's been a hater this year

I was only 6 in 95 but I'm surprised to find out Dana Barros was a all star
KJ Brophy - February 9, 2012
Just saw that on twitter too, congrats Iggy well deserved

SPOILER ALERT: he’s in.
